Below is are some of the various programs available. For more information, please contact Laura Bowden, Economic Development Coordinator, at 325-869-2211.
4B Sales Tax
The EEDC oversees the expenditure of one-half over every cent of sales tax collected in Eden for use in projects focused on quality of life improvements, including economic development projects that attract and retain primary employers. Expenditures can be in the form of grants or loans which enhance the business venture's ability to prosper and grow, and can be used for both new and existing business.
In cooperation with the United States Department of Agriculture, the Eden Economic Development Corporation has established a loan assistance program for small business owners in Concho County. The USDA Intermediary Relending Program (IRP) provides low interest, long term financing for working capital and fixed assets with a focus of expanding the trade area for the business as well as ensuring Concho County's long-term economic sustainability.
Facade Improvement Program
Design changes that take place at commercial properties are a critical part of a successful revitalization strategy. Visitors and customers want to see and shop in an attractive and inviting environment. Property owners want to generate adequate rents from their commercial properties while lessees want to have pride in their well-designed and maintained place of business. The City of Eden Economic Development Corporation (EEDC) wishes to maintain and improve the quality of life for its citizens by fostering economically viable commercial districts. In order to reach this goal the EEDC has established a Façade Improvement Program. This program will be initiated through the EEDC and will offer technical and financial assistance to property owners seeking to renovate or restore commercial building façades in the downtown area, informally known as "the square", and along the corridors of Highways 83 and 87 within the city limits of Eden.
Eden Business Incubator
Having the right tools, and knowing how to use them, can make starting a business easier. The Business Incubator has the tools to help nurture a business during the most vulnerable, early-growth stages. We provide an all-inclusive office environment so the business owner can focus on growing the business. Our services include reduced rent with flexible leases for furnished office space, free parking, and a conference/training room. In addition, we provide just-in-time management counseling and referrals to other local business assistance providers and resources. Business incubators reduce the risk of small business failures and according to the National Business Incubator Association, 87 percent of all firms that have graduated from a business incubator are still in business.
