Public Water Advisory

Water Advisory

Due to the hot summer heat and current system-wide vulnerabilities in our Water System, the City of Eden would like to issue this Public Water Advisory.

Vulnerabilities

  • Currently the City of Eden Water System is vulnerable due to having limited flow available in our water system.
  • Due to radium present in water obtained from the Hickory Aquifer, additional treatment is required before public use.
  • TCEQ requires all of the City’s water to first go through a Radium Reduction System before it enters the City’s Treatment Plant and is finally sent through to distribution.
  • While we have water available from any of our three wells, our Radium Reduction System, at the present time, can only push through a limited amount at any given time.

Ways to Conserve

During this time, and until the flow can be increased, we are asking all citizens to help by conserving water where possible.

  • Always be mindful of your water usage.
  • Turn off faucets while brushing your teeth…this saves 4 gallons each time.
  • Fix leaky faucets….saves 1 to 8 gallons per day.
  • Only run the dishwasher when it is full….this saves 6 gallons each time.
  • Shorten shower time…this saves 12.5 gallons each time.

Current Restrictions

  • Irrigation of landscaped areas with hose-end sprinklers or automatic irrigation systems (sprinkler systems) is not allowed between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Please try to keep bottled water available, in case any system outage occurs as pressure on the system is increased during the summer months.
